What is Alpha-gal Syndrome?

Syndrome?
Alpha-gal Syndrome (AGS) or Alpha-gal Allergy is a serious, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. AGS is not caused by an infection. AGS symptoms occur after eating red meat, or following an exposure to other substances which are derived from mammals.

What causes Alpha-gal Syndrome?

AGS can be triggered by the bite of a lone star tick, however other ticks cannot be ruled out. Growing evidence suggests other ticks are being linked to the development of AGS in other countries.
